Free Phone Consultation:
What do we attempt to accomplish in five minutes?
First tell us whether you are calling about someone else or yourself. Name the State you live in since the rules are different for each. Inform us if your need is currently urgent or if you want to begin planning for the future.
To plan, express, & effect ...so others will honor your Last Wishes.
For example, you might be a terminally ill patient who needs advice right now on how to get your doctor’s and your family’s support to Refuse Food & Fluid. Or you might have just been asked, as the designated Proxy, to make a life-determining decision about whether or not medical treatment should continue. On the other hand, you may be in the early stages of dementia (or consider yourself at high risk for developing this or another chronic disease) so you want to create a document that will permit your Proxy to Refuse Food & Fluid on your behalf at some well-defined point in the future.
You might also request a specialized professional evaluation. We can determine if:
- A patient has unimpaired mental ability to make sound medical decisions,
- A vulnerable patient is being subjected to elder abuse called “Undue Influence.”
As our phone conversation ends, we may agree to one or more of the following:
- A longer phone consultation with a Caring Advocates professional selected to match your needs (or an office appointment if you are near one of our affiliated professionals),
- Recommendations for reading or other community resources that relate specifically to your issues, either as the solution to your problem or as preparation for your next phone or office consultation so it will be more efficient, or
- Referrals to clinical or legal professionals in your area.
Note about payment: As a non-profit organization, we offer services based on your ability to pay. We graciously accept contributions so that those who cannot afford to pay can still benefit from our services.
